Hi,
I'm new here;glad I found it.
I'm having trouble with an agency;I know I owe the money, probably put it off to long.I'm willing to pay;just can't afford alot.Somehow they made arrangments with my wife;she gets scared and overwhelmed and agreed to 100.00 a month.I called to rearrange it and they won't.I told them if they had added up our finances and income they could easily see we couldn't pay it.they lied twice about a phone call and said they weren't a CA.Just found out they are. Nelson,Watson and assoc. They said they were litigation and we had no choice. My wife made arrangments with our checking account.I'm going to the bank to try and stop it.What else can I do.I've made arrangments with others recently;but NWA won't work with me.
Thanks in advance
Dan:confused:

As Nelson,Watson and Association is a collection agency, then it cannot contact your wife for your debts. This will be against the FDCPA. You should let them know that and ask them to negotiate with you regarding a payment plan. Moreover, you can contact your bank authorities and block the account so that they cannot debit money from your account. I hope they will agree to negotiate with you for a payment plan.

You can also close your account and open a new one..that is the safest way. Even if you make a payment arrangement, you should NEVER give out your banking info. Pay by money order, cashiers check or your banks bill pay system.

You should never deal with anyone without first validating the debt. How do you know they are the correct ones to be collecting? Are you sure they are correcting the right amount? You have to ask these questions with each account because it is a proven fact that there are companies out there who take advantage of people, break the law and collect on bogus debt. People have to protect themselves. The CA's should be mad at themselves and other CAs, not the people they try to collect from. The bad CAs make it much more difficult for the lawful ones.
