I had two bank overdrafts that went delinquient pretty long. I tried to rectify them by calling the two banks (B of A and Citizens Bank). They both said i would need to deal with the CA (so i know the CA is reputable). Now my question is once i pay these off what can i do to ensure the acct is closed with B of A and Citizens, primarily for Chexsystems and CRA purposes?

As surprising as it is, SOME CA's are reputable. I had one that was very plesant, did everything by the book and even properly validated the debt and when a payment arrangement was reached, they had no problems giving it to me in writing and they even kept to the agreement and never reported it to the CRAs.

But so many are NOT and it is in your best interest to protect yourself at all times. Honest CAs know this and have no problem complying with the law...it is only shady bottom feeders who have no respect for you, or the law.
