My health condition is not at all good. I may have to retire soon. I owe $40,000 on credit cards. I will move to my son's house in Hermosa Beach, California after my retirement. Can the creditors garnish my SSN? I have around $10,000 in my checking account. Can the creditors touch that fund?

SS is exempt from garnishment

SS is exempt from garnishment. If that $10k is not SS funds, it would be garnishable.
