I have received more than 20 collection letters from a junk debt collector in Trabuco Canyon, California. I have asked them to send documents to me several times. However, they have not done so. I’m just tired of receiving the collection letters. I’m thinking of contacting the original creditor. Will I be able to get documents from them? Has anyone got any success? Please share your experience.

Have you asked verbally for documents or have you done it in writing??? They are not required to send you anything if you make a verbal request.

The original creditor doesnt want to deal with you...that is why you are in collections.

I have asked them to send me documents in writing. I know verbal request doesn't matter nowadays. Still, the JDM didn't give me a reply.

I've been dealing with portfolio recovery for some time now over an old credit card. Last payment was in 2008. I had to file a dispute with Equifax to get a response. They still won't send original documents showing they have the legal right to try to collect. They sent a letter stating they were sold the account electronically and the amounts are correct. However the original creditor is on the credit report and pra is charging an extra 800. They just refuse to show any proof they actually own the account and call my phone at least 6 times a day. I no longer answer. I guess sending a cease and desist letter would be best since the sol is past. Really makes me mad they won't verify, they lie on the phone about the dates and when requested in writing they don't send documents. I ran my credit to see what was on there and it's not as bad as I thought and I'm going to try to have most of it removed. Some of the debt is over 8 years old and most of it I don't own.

If you are the original poster, the debt is out of SOL. Simply send them a cease and desist letter.

As for the balance being higher, interest is still continuing to acrue. If reporting correctly, you are not likely going to get it removed
When you DC'd, have you specifically asked for a card holder agreement??
