Lost job. Too many collection calls. Surviving on a payday loan. A collector has filed a lawsuit against me. I don't even have money to hire an attorney.

Don't know what to say? How much do you owe? Surviving on a payday loan is the worst thing you can do to your finances. Have you checked the SOL period in your state?

Man..what a mess!! Which state are you from? SC is right, payday loans are very bad for your finances.
You said..you are unemployed now...have you tried a part time job? If you didn't, just move your body and start searching. You must find a job and start earning before anything, and stop taking more payday loans..ok?

You can try out debt settlement - either DIY or with professional help. And, if your financial situation doesn't permit, then bankruptcy can be the last resort.

Sell unwanted yet valuable thing to get some cash. You can also rent your garage or sell your car. get a job or at least a seasonal job or take out a personal loan from friends or relatives to avoid interest rate. Avoid payday loans, they will make your financial situation even worse.

I can only see Bankruptcy as a valid option. With chapter 7, you need to liquidate assets. Given your condition, I would say, go for chapter 13. You will have time to pay off your debts. Either way you need to have an attorney. His bills can be paid later on!!

You can stop the collection calls easy. You don't need an attorney to deal with a collection law firm. You can always go to settle bank debt and get help or some other reputable debt settlement firm.
