Creditors calling the neighbors!

If you can access the Star Telegram newspaper online, you might can find this story - but did anyone know creditors can call the neighbors to harass them about you now? We got a call about our neighbors asking if they lived there, if they were still driving the car, etc...how humiliating for them! The credit collection agency said they got it off the property tax website where it shows everyone who lives on the same street...and it's not illegal.

That's awful. Last year someone called me asking questions about a guy who used to live down the street, but they had sold their house at least 2 years earlier. I didn't even know him, and I told the caller that, but she was REALLY pushy and asked me to remember any conversations I had with him. Hey, it's none of my business, so I wouldn't tell if I did know anything.
