Palisades -what to do?

We have been getting calls from Palisades for several weeks now. All time sof day/night. When the machine answers, the message is cut off, but they leave a number to call back between 9am and 6pm EST (of course we are on the West Coast). When we do answer the phone, even in the middle of the day on a weekday, it is just the same message, to call their number. So when we call back, we go through the options till it wants our SS#! Right, like I'm going to punch that in on the phone when I don't know these people from Adam! Anyway, we have excellent credit - never late, never sent to collections. After reading all the problems others have been having with them, I pulled credit reports on both myself and hubby, and fortunately, nothing bad shows up. But why are they calling us? How do I get hold of a live person to find out what this is all about, especially before something does happen to our credit? I wonder if they even have the right people - maybe someone gave out our number. Either way, it is getting really annoying, and we want the calls to stop. Any suggestions?

You can get through their phone maze without giving them your SSN. NEVER give them that.. they will ask repeatedly, and even claim to not be able to pull up the file without it.. DO NOT cave in.
If I remember right, just wait on the line when it asks for the SSN.. it should connect you to a person after that. It sounds like they have you confused with someone else. Just wait a while, or hit star or pound to confuse the phone system if waiting doesn't work. It should send you to a live person eventually, though they don't make it easy.
Good luck getting it sorted out! They are a pain to deal with.
