I have 3 cards out to them, how much did you owe them? I am worried they might sue me, but my cards were not big balances.

Hi marydairy, if the outstandings on the cards are not big, why don't you try to negotiate with them for a settlement. It'll have a more decent impact on your report, than letting them garnish your wage.

Please, don't wait for them to sue you rather voluenteer to pay-off the debts. This way you can save yourself from loads of hassels.

You quit, you don't get unemployment. The garnishment stops (obviously), but the judgment doesn't go away, it just sits there accruing interest. If you have any assets worth taking (and not protected by your state's exemptions), it may be taken and auctioned off. The key thing is that judgments do not go away for many years (and they can be renewed, too).

If you quit, not only does the judgement not get paid, but you also loose the rest of your income. When I was collecting, a lot of people threatened to quit their jobs. With student loans we got 15% of their disposable pay....but quitting means they would be giving up the other 85%!! Doesnt make a lot of sense!
