Get a creditor to take a debt back?

Hi,
I was looking at my credit report yesterday after reading a lot of posts and articles on this site. (Great information by the way, now I'm moving forward in doing things I didn't even know I could do.)
Anyway, I have a debt that has been in the hands of a collection agency for months. However, the collection agency themselves do not have an entry on my credit report as far as I can tell. The only thing on there related to this debt is a "Charge-off" from CapitalOne.
My question is, am I able to convince CapitalOne to retrieve this debt back so that I may do a settlement and pay for delete? Or, once it's off to the collection agency is that all there is to it? I have two accounts like this where they have been turned over to collection agencies, but neither of the agencies have entries on my report.
Thanks in advance!

Once the bad debts get sold to the collection agencies the creditor reports those as loss to their accounting, hence, you might not succeed in convincing the creditor to take the debt back.
