The info they requested was my name, my address on file with them, my current address - if it's different than what's on file am i requesting an address change, my account number, my social security number and my date of birth.
What should I do about this? They already know my address. They sent me the letter to my house address! They have all of this information. It was forwarded from a collection agency, who I KNOW has my information. They used it to harass me before they were told to stop contacting me. Any suggestions or advice?

If it is coming directly from capital one, it is not a violation or harassment. Guess they wanna know why you are disputing the debt.

You should give the letter to your lawyer, if you're still represented and let him deal with this. Capital One should know better than to try and contact someone they know is represented by a lawyer, but they try it anyway.

I contacted the lawyer about this. This is what he said: "Please note that we do not represent you on the underlying claim. However, we do represent you on the allegations of their illegal acts and practices in connection with collecting the debt. I will note your file accordingly."
So he has noted my file. However, I still have this piece of paper, stating that it is directly from Capital One. They have all of this information and could very easily take care of this without some paper that I send to them. I get the same feeling that this is just a method to get more information out of me like the collection agency did about a month ago. Should I worry about this paper when they've already got this information?

I would call Capital One directly and ask them about the document. If it really IS from them, you can verify your info over the phone. They may be providing your validation info to the CA if the CA is collecting on behalf of Cap1.
