My Cap1 account was charged off on and place with Client Services for collection (12,000). Does anyone have any experience with settleing an account these guys? What kind of settlement do you think I can get?

Thanks

Client Services has one of my collection accounts. It's a BOA (FIA Card Services) account. Balance just under $3,000. They call me, though the calls have slowed down. They were the only collection company to actually call me at work. After the first time, told them I can't take calls at work and they didn't call back there.

I sent them a letter that they received Jan 31st offering to settle for three monthly payments of $500 each (50% total) but have not heard back from them yet.

They did call me at work a couple times and I told them both times I couldn't take thier call and they stopped. I'm trying to stall them for now because I won't have any money to settle for a couple months.
Arb, let me know if they accept your offer. Good Luck.

I called them because I had not received a reply to my letter. They told me the account was "recalled" at the end of Jan, so they are no longer collecting for it. The guy say he could try and get it back but the settlement would be around $1600 instead of the $1500 I was offering. But I turned him down since he tried to pressure me and told me I had to decide right then if I wanted him to do it our not. Told me it was probably recalled since they were getting ready to sue, etc. But I wasn't comfortable with the idea of paying them now since the account was recalled. Maybe they'd just keep my money saying they got the account back when they really didn't or whatever...

So guess I'll kick myself if I get sued now for the full amount instead of settling for $1600 but I want to see who contacts me next. The balance is $3,000 so if I get sued I'll have to come up with the difference somehow. So now I'm stalling too hoping to get more time to get more money together.
