going to court over defaulte dcredit card

help .I defaulted on a credit card a few years ago.at one time I had made payment arrangements to pay $40.00 a month and after a year could not even do that anymore .I live on less than $400.00 a month for babysitting and well am I considered a hard ship case?.I live in someone elses home and I own nothing except for a car that is paid for but does not run.it is all I can do to get by .anyway they require me to appear in court to answer about my wages.assets non exempt property etc.I can not afford a attorney and i am scared to death.because of goingot court.any advice would be appreciated.thank you
