need to send CardWorks Services a val letter but they have 3 to be exact addresses on this letter. this debt is way old but gonna send one anyway to make sure these buggers don't try anything.

the address for payment is in hicksville, ny, the address at the top is in old bethpage, ny and the one in the letter is in pittsburgh they give as a kindof contact? address.

anyone know? not sending to payment address for sure?

also what is this new thing (a paragraph in this letter) that they are required to send info to the IRS for any debt "excused" over $600? and a form 1099c will be sent to you to turn in when you file? is this true or a ploy?

are they playing with words so to speak as wouldn't the original creditor, who does not own this debt anymore/has written off obviously, have to file this with the IRS or what? if so then their scare tactics (trying to get you to pay the "offered" amt which is lower than $600) almost stepping over some legal line?
thanks for helping with address and irs thing

One of those addresses should say "Send Correspondence To".
A Google search brings up this address:
CARDWORKS, L.P.
C/O THE PRENTICE-HALL CORPORATION SYSTEM, INC.
80 STATE STREET
ALBANY, NEW YORK 12207

And it shows that they are associated with Merrick Bank.
"http://www.merrickbanksucks.com/" has a bunch of addresses, too.

1099C: it's not new, and it's true. When a written off account is paid, they change your credit report to read "COR" or Charge-Off Recovery. Basically, when they write it off they report it as a loss on their taxes, and Uncle Sam really wants that tax money.
