collection agency taking me to court

I received court documents saying i'm being sued for medical bills. the collection agency is sueing me but the plaintff that is named is the hospital that the bills are from. When i called the hospital they said they turned the past due bill over to a collection agency. Can the collection agency use the hospital as the plaintiff? the paprwork says to contact the collection agency to resolve.

The account has been assigned to the collection agency...the hospital still owns the debt...thus the hospital IS the plaintiff.
