I'm a debt collector and I deal with many deadbeat debtors daily who think they have beat the system because their account's past SOL and no longer being reported on the CBR. I simply pull their credit report right then and there as an inquiry for all future creditor's to see. If your CBR says the name of a CA anywhere at all, whether it being reported directly or as an inquiry, potential lenders will know what's going on and throw your credit application in the garbage. You legally owe us the debt because we bought it from the original creditor that you stopped paying and we have the right to pull your CBR for an inquiry anytime we please. I make sure all of my debtor's have an inquiry on their CBR at all times and for as long as we own the debt even if it's way past SOL. Almost all the other people I work with are starting to do it too. You might want to pull your own CBR and don't be surprised if you see us on there. ;-)
P.S. Be responsible and pay your bills. Then you wouldn't have to find ways to hide from your debts.

Until people send you a permissible purpose letter. What is that you may ask? Well, that simply means that you have to have a legitimate reason to pull the credit report and prove it. When you can't prove it, guess what? That's right, the inquiry goes bye-bye.

Oh, and unlike a debt validation letter, federal law allows a consumer to do this ANYTIME, not just within 30 days of initial contact. Oh and might I add that you can then be sued and forced to pay said consumer?

P.S. Be legal and play by the rules, then you won't get sued and have to pay people instead of them paying you.

have a nice day.

Actually a debt collector collecting on a debt HAS permissable purpose to pull a credit report pretty well anytime they choose as long as they do not abuse it. (Daily pulls would be considered abusive.)

The OP is a junk debt collector considering he is collecting debts out of SOL. Technically the debts are owed but they are uncollectable thru the courts so you can easily send a FOAD letter which they will probably violate. Then as part of your 1 settlement, you can request the inquiry be removed. He probably hasnt opened a newspaper recently to know anything about the economy and that people may not be hiding from debts but just simply cannot pay.
