I owe over $3,000 credit card debts and cannot pay any longer because of going to rehab for 3 months. Can they garnish my wages in Ohio

Hi df7057,

Welcome to the Community!

They would have to get a court order to garnish at any rate. And they wouldn't get one until or unless they file a lawsuit against you and get a judgment in their favor and you do not pay it. Their other option is for them to ask your employer to voluntarily attach your wages. Most employers won't do that unless legally forced to.

At any rate, if you are current now (sounds like it to me) you have probably around 6 months to work out a payment plan with the collection agency that will (likely) have the account by then.

Hope this helps,

chrys
