I agree as to it being ridiculous. I believe that there is some type of law that collection type calls can't be made before 8 am or after maybe 9 pm. Maybe some of our forum members know the details on this. But, I would venture to say that by calling at 8:18 they have their butts covered.

Just a little tid bit about calls. I can track how people get to my blog site, well a few days ago my entry was pretty much about phone numbers and I had a list of about 50 numbers there. Anyhow I had about 150 hits YESTERDAY when people googled a number and my blog site came up, TODAY I have had about 20 hits to my blog site in regards to people googling phone numbers

Perhaps you should answer the phone when its them. You can anser by saying "this call is being recorded".
You could always try answering your phone. I hear that works.

Most people in debt seem to loose reason when it comes to collection agency. It doesn't matter if it is a good agency or a bad one.
They are in debt, they aren't happy about it (who would be?) and they know they can't afford to pay it or work out arrangements. So they avoid answering the phone.
I don't suggest this course of action because it could lead to legal action from the company as it looks like you are flat out refusing to even attempt to do anyhting about it at all.

I used to be afraid to answer the phone until I started to get smart with my debts including how to handle CA's when they call. I just keep my conversations short, gather the information such as who I'm talking too, who they represent (third party, themselves, or the original creditor) the amount and their address. I then tell them that I am not acknowledging the debt and that I will be sending them a DV letter in the mail. Most will try but if you keep control, and that is the key, they really don't have any choice. They can't do anything to you until the debt has been validated. So now that I know what to say and how to follow up, I am no longer afraid to answer the phone. Plus, it makes me feel better when I fight back and get a few jabs in at the CA.

I received 8 or 9 calls last Saturday. I answered every one of them and not one single time was there anyone on the line. I don't have anything in collects. So what is the deal?
THE LAWS ARE FUNNY HUH
The hours of calls are 8a.m to 9 p.m. The worst is getting A MILLION calls on sunday all the way up until 9. I actually had to call and ask why even after I answered the phone, they would still call. They say that we are on a dialer system that automatically dials MY house. I asked how many times can it call, the manager told me he could not stop it.
