Question about the scope of a Cease and Desist letter?

My husband has an account in collection. We saw it on his credit report and I called the collection company to see what it was. Wow was that a mistake. I called the original creditor (I was able to get that out of them) and worked out a payment arrangement with the OC. The OC can't pull the debt back from the CA. But I did send the CA a Cease & Desist letter (I based it on the one under do it yourself on this website) saying that I was choosing to work with the original creditor. I have paid a little over half the debt, and should have it all paid off by the end of July.
My question is, with the Cease and Desist letter, can I have the collection from the CA removed from my husband's credit report? Or do I have to wait till it is paid off? Any help would be appreciated.

YOu have to wait to pay it off. Collections usually come off your report quickly after its paid in full. Well, it was for me anyway. I had a 2500 dollar cell phone bill that went to collections and i made payments for a year on it and it came off my credit report without me even asking the next month. However, every CA is different. Either way, its not going anywhere until you pay them off.
Oh well. It was worth a shot. It will be paid next month anywa
