I have a few credit card accounts that I have not been able to pay for quite some time. I am going back to school to become an RN. My credit report regarding these accounts says, Status: Charged Off, $xx,xxx Written Off, $x,xxx Past Due. What do these three things mean - charged off, written off, past due?

Past due means that you're delinquent on the payments for that particular credit card. As far as charged off and written off is concerned, it means that the lender is not more interested in collecting the dues from you. He may have assigned or sold off the account to a collection agency who may in turn collect the debts from you.

Anna is right. You'll have to now negotiate a settlement with the creditor to repay the charge-off. If the account has been assigned to the collection agency, then you have to deal with the CA in this regard. You can negotiate a pay for delete settlement agreement with the collection agency/creditors.
