Hello, I need some advice/reassurance on a situation I got myself into wth these guys. I got a call from Greg Adams and Associates. They were calling about a payday loan I had with Ace cash Express in April 2009. An Alexander Flores says that he was calling for his client (Ace Cash Express) and this is my debt, etc and so he says that ACE would be filing a civil suit against me within 10 days if i did not reach a settlement today. I paid the amount that he asked for because I knew it was my debt. Here's why I'm concerned:
. I made this payment on 2/13. He told me I would receive a letter that the debt had been paid. Didn't get that. Called Ace because (I guess) they would have some sort of record of this. (They don't) I was also told by the store I borrowed the money from that my debt could be paid with them. So now I'm confused. I am wondering if this collection agency bought my account from whatever other agency it was with. Who did I pay my money to? The charge is not on my credit report so I have no way of verifying. I called them back today and they were absolutely rude. I did file a complaint with BBB, but I would like to know has anyone dealt with them? I am only concerned whether this was the proper way to settle the debt or am I out of 480 bucks. Sorry for the long post.
