Navy Fed Debt from Identity theft

If i have a checking account debt with Navyfed for over 5,000 in 2003, that was a result of identity theft, then how long can they try to collect on it.
Did you file a police report and submit it and any other paperwo
Did you file a police report and submit it and any other paperwork the bank required? Generally when paperwork is done correctly, anything owed due to ID theft is removed.
