Check Resolution Services, a collection agency, has got a "F" rating which is very poor indeed.
I don't think it will be that easy to recover the money. You can contact Attorney General of your state. You may also file your complaint with Federal Trade Commission or FTC.

My bank has completely jerked me around on it also, two weeks ago it was approved to be credited to my account, as of today, they stated they did not want to give me my money back and reopened the case. I am extremely steamed

You should never pay off a debt to a debt collector before you get proof that they have the right to collect the debt. For this you should first send a debt validation letter by certified mail to the collector who claims the debt. Now, only if they validate your debt properly, give them authorization by providing them with your debit card number so that they can debit your account to collect the outstanding debt amount.
