I'm in the same situation. I got a loan back in 1/07 for 300.00 MTE Financial Services aka Ten Dollar Pay Day Loans. 4 checks bounced back because of insufficient funds. But the took (2) payments of 30.00, one for 90.00 and one for 100.00 in the month of February. After that, they MTE didn't take any more $$$ from my account. Now 2 months later, I'm getting call from that Law Firm saying that I owe then 290.00 and that I never made a payment. I have my bank statement showing that. The lady I have been in contact with says that if I don't pay, they will take me to court. But as far as I'm concern, those loans are illegal in NYC where I'm from. I know it was something stupid for me to do. But I guess people learn from their own experiences. Now, I'm seeking guidance to deal with that so called Attorney Burgess. Thanks.

If you 'Google' the name Douglas Birgess, it will come up with SOOOO much inforamtion ( ie....illegal practice; 'working out of Canada; moeny theft, etc.) I got a call from their 'office' to...about a PDL. I asked them for a number that I can call back on. When I tried to call it back, the number was disconnected. You may want to 'Google the name.....I'm sure there is OTHER 'issues', with Burgess, as well.
