Credit card companies threaten to take us to court. In Missouri they are able to garnish 25% of our wages for single and 10% for people with dependents. I pay child support and it is directly taken out of my pay check by child support enforcement. I voluntarily asked for this to be done due to record keeping. Is this money for child support considered a garnishment?

I am not to sure, but I would say no unless the state courts ordered a garnishment of your wages due to non-payment of child support.

You stated that you voluntarily set up payments for the child support so I do not think it qualifies as a garnishment. The CC companies may be able to get the 10% of your wages.

No he is having it garnished " I pay child support and it is directly taken out of my pay check by child support enforcement."

You are already being garnished so I dont believe they can touch you. They can however levy your bank account....so I would suggest you protect that.

Hi,
I too am from Missouri and I can assure you that the credit card companies will not garnish your child support payments. they come out first and foremost, then another garnishment amount will come out for the credit card debts. It is best to work out a plan with each of them to pay a weekly amount of 25.00 per card if at all possible. this will stop any court action they are threatening. if they ahave already filed with the court, then you have lost any chance to fight back! Good Luck!!
