Has anyone else received calls from this number? I have received calls from this number stating that they are 'The Law Firm". When I Google the number, I have come up with the name of "Christopher Ranieri Law Firm" or "Ranieri Law Firm". I am trying to get an address from them so that I can send a debt validation letter to them. I have not heard very good things about this firm. They have even called my ex-husband and his second ex-wife. Also, the caller stated that they were from NY.
Thank you for any help that you can give me.

Their address registered with BBB is
Christopher Ranieri, Esq
3890 West Commercial Blvd. Suite 218, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309

Did they send you any collection notice? If they have not send you any collection notice, then as per the FDCPA, the CA or the law firm needs to send you a DV notice within 5 days of initial communication in order to start the process of debt collection, if they call you up over phone.

If you have received a collection notice or a DV notice, you should immediately send them a debt validation letter within 30 days through certified mail and get the debt validated before you start making any payment towards the debt.

I have only a received phone call, but I have not spoken to them. The voice mail that they left indicated that they have to make a final determination in my county would be taken unless they hear from me in two days. I assumed that meant filing a suit. This was last week.
I need advice on how to handle this situation.
Thank you.

They need to send you a dunning letter within 5 days of initial communication as per the provisions of FDCPA to start the debt collection process. However, if you want, you can send them a DV letter through certified mail in order to get the debt validated. Even if they sue you, they cannot bring judgment against you unless they validate the debt.
