Should I contact firm representing Citi before court?
CitiBank has sued my mother for $2000 of debt. She had cancer last year and is still paying off for the chemo and radiation. Should she contact CitiBank's attorney and tell them the circumstances or wait till she has to go to court? And, becuase of chemo and radiation should had to quit her job and now receives a Social Security check every month .

Dear Christy,

Just wanted to tell you that I feel for you and your Mom. My wife also had cancer and it can be devastating financially and emotionally. Is your mom also on Social Security disablity? That may be available for her. I would contact citibank and let them know she is on Social secutriy and that she has had cancer. They may be able to work something out for her. They can not garnish Social security. I don't know the whole situation but maybe she should look into bankruptcy if she has a lot of unsecured debt. I hope your mother recovers well...they are doing so many amazing things to help people with cancer. Also, she could look into getting help from the American Cancer Society.
