what should I do civil complaint filed
Date: Wed, 09/12/2007 - 13:04
I was just notified a civil complaint was filed against me and a hearing is scheduled for the end of this month. This is for a credit card balance of about 4000 from several years ago. The account was opened about 10 years ago, I used it and paid on it for several years but eventually fell behind, the interest rate was like 38% and I never made a dent in what I owed, I don't think I ever made more than 500 to 1,000 in purchases in total. Well eventually I just gave up and forgot about it. The account bounced between several different creditors/collection agencies over the years which at times I had made some payments but generally ignored. I had not thought about it for awhile until this recent notice.
Any advice as to what I should do?
I live in Pennsylvani, the card was just in my name, my wife and I own our house jointly as well as joint checking etc. I have a federal tax lein on my property that I would like to use the current money I have to pay down as opposed to this card debt.
