Called CA-told account has been recalled.

I called Client Services to discuss a possible settlement on an account that was a Bank of America (FIA Card Services) account with $2,995.23 balance. I was told the account had been recalled at the end of January.
He then went on to tell me that since the account was in prelegal status with them it probably was recalled because they are going to sue me. I haven't received any letters or calls from a different CA.
Does FIA like to sue a lot? Just trying to get an idea if I should expect a summons next or another CA to contact me about it.
Should I maybe try calling BOA and try to settle even though the debt is charged off? Last paid in April 08.

what does prelegal status mean exactly? Not what the CA says it
what does prelegal status mean exactly? Not what the CA says it means. Personally, I think it is one of their made up terms because if you think about it, wouldn't most CAs want to say that all of their accounts are in Prelegal status, you know, to scare you. Whenever I've had accounts be recalled, it is because the CA has given up on it or needed verification or something. Like other posters have said, call BofA and see what that means.
