Question about closing bank account
Date: Thu, 02/26/2009 - 10:42
I am in the early stages of defaulting on my cc's so I can possibly settle one day. Since I paid most of my monthly payments thru my bank account (online), I would like to close this account.
My question is, once it is closed, does anyone have the right to those records in the future (CA's, courts, etc)?
Just wondering because I have borrowed money from CC's as well as family members and have deposited those funds into this account to pay bills. Will I have to explain this to anyone? Will I have to account for and explain checks that were written from this account?

The only real issue I would see would be if you were going to file bankruptcy. Your lawyer would then have to check to make sure you did not distribute funds to other party's to hide your money during the bankruptcy proceedings. If you are only worried over law suits, just close it for now. Just remember though that judgments will not go away so you can either fight it, through help from this forum, or simply pay it before interest keeps stacking.
