Please help! I was being charged from GFSIL and ameriloan way more than what I owed them. I paid off almost 2 to 3 times the principal of the original loan, and they were still taking money out of my bank account calling it "processing fees" because "I didnt tell them that I wanted to pay off my loan" ?????? So, it was suggested that I close my bank account, and dispute the charges because payday internet loans are not legal in MA. I disputed the charges at my bank, and I have been refunded the money. NOW, I am getting two phone calls per hour (from both companies & collection agencies) to my home & cell #s. Is this going to ruin my credit?? What can I do now- I cant seem to find a website where I can find any laws that will protect me- or something that says that these PDLS are not legal in my state. I have collection agencies calling me, and I am afraid the PDL's will start calling my employer to garnish my check. Do I just tell the loan people that I have paid the loans off ? I am sure that will not stop them- do I have to call a lawyer? Ugh.

They are illegal in MA http://www.paydayloaninfo.org/state_detail.cfm?id=MA
is the link to your state's pdl laws. You need to file a complaint with the AGS office and tell these idiots you are done with them. You are only obligated to payback the principal. Close your account. Send them settlement letters inserting your state's pdl laws and let them know you have filed a formal complaint with the AGs office. They will say they only have to follow their state's laws, that's a lie, and they will threaten you with all types of illegal threats. Don't be intimidated, they are lying.

When your bank disputed with the loan company and got the charges reverted, the company left the proof that they don't have any reasons to collect money from you. Talk to them confidently and get a PIF in writing. They should send you a mail with your account marked closed.

Once you get this letter, show it to the collection agency who must also stop their calls.

Keep a check on your credit report. They should not hit anything negative in your credit file. If they touch it, there must be a legitimate purpose for doing it. I think they don't have any.
