This is going to sound strange, but I have received several phone calls concerning an old credit card account, (which I believe was discharged in my bankruptcy but not positive) anyway, the collectors who have been calling my house have very thick accents and I am having an extremely hard time understanding them. Is it okay for me to tell them that if they want to communicate with me have someone from their company who speaks English as a first language. It is to the point where I am very frustrated, and every time they call since they cant pronounce my name I am thinking about telling them no one by that name lives here. Please advise. Thank you.

check and be sure this was part of your BK.if so then tell these idiots to TAKE A HIKE.chances are they bought your info and think they can make a cheap buck.

You can get copies of your bankruptcy papers(if you don't have copies). The clerk of courts where you filed will be able to help. Depending on how old the bankruptcy is, you might have to get them from an offsite place. The clerk of courts will be able to tell you that and where you can get them, if it's still not at the courthouse.

If you notice the number on your caller id.. simply ingore it, let it go to vm. Also check your credit reports to make sure that they haven't imporperly added it to your credit reports.

Okay come to find out the First Premier Bank credit card they were talking about was discharged in my bankruptcy almost 7 years ago, but I applied for a Visa with this bank recently and they say they are willing to give me the Visa but want me to include the past due amount that I had discharged on my bankruptcy to the amount. Now I am not a rocket scientist but I am definitely not going to do that and they say since I applied for a line of credit with them that they can do that..Have you guys heard of such a thing?
