False Information

Hello
I just received a call from this company regarding a balance on a card that I "know" I paid off last year. This company is stating that I owe a balance of $300. When I said I had no recollection of this debt, they asked me for paper work to show that the account was paid off - why would I have that handy? The Indian gentleman (Nakhil) on the other side of the phone said that he could minimize my payment to $175 if I paid now - credit card or check by phone. When I told him I didn't have either at work with me, he began to act a little erratic about getting it paid today - how long will it take for you to go home and get your checks?, Do you have a debit card?, real crazy. How can I get the information regarding this so-called debt?
