Can a creditor serve you papers even if you have asked for proof on the transaction and they have not provided it. They said they want to confirm my address so they can serve me papers but they have yet to produce proof and they said they only can when they serve the papers.

How did you ask for proof?? Verbally or in writing? The law requires you do this in writing.

They are saying that it was a debt from 2007 and it was wth a mycashnow company. I don't recall ever making such a transaction and thought it was a little late in the game to try to take me to court.
