Just writing in because I am needing to find some Consumer debt attorneys in Texas that will work with you if you are broke and have nothing! My son is out of the service and has no money...Zilch. They messed up his paperwork and he won't be getting nearly as much from his departure pay which means that he will have little to nothing to live on. He is unemployed and will begin looking for work, but in the meantime, he will be declaring bankruptcy but needs to be pointed in the direction of a law firm that will work with him budget wise and help him file. What kind of help is available if you no longer have an income?

I would think that if he is unemployed and has no income or assets, he would be judgment proof. You may be able to check with your local courts.

I don't know about Texas but in my state, if you can come up with I think about $350, you can get a freeze for bankruptcy, meaning the debt collectors know your filing and can't sue you. In my state, you have to pay the balance in 6 months or else you don't get to file.

I will try to look around if no one else can help you over the weekend.

Thanks Shazzers. We are all going "through it" here of late. I know that everything will work out. It is just frustrating the times we live in now. There seems to be so many people loosing ground out here, and yet the people namely our national leaders that should be concerned seem to look the other way. I feel something worse than the depression of the 30s is coming, and that this nation, which I have stated before which is being sold to the highest bidder has seen it's best days. Because of the need of politicians to line their own pockets, they have sold out the American people and have literally allowed credit card companies banks and finance companies to run the day to day lives of Americans. Sorry to get on my soap box again, I have just watched "Maxed Out." I as an American am highly upset and offended by what I saw and heard....even though I was aware of some of the facts before watching the full movie. Money it seems, not democracy makes the the nation go round, and that's not good news. It used to be that everyone here had a shot at achieving and keeping the American dream but no more. Only a select few it appears has access to it. If this is so than we are in big trouble. We have been for a long while..it has just taken us a while to "wake up and smell the coffee." Sorry again for soap boxing, but I am just plain out and out mad. Thanks Shazzers for your kind words and support. :)

Morning Unc. He is declaring bankruptcy due to both being over extended and now out of a job.

What kind of debts does he have? I know where he is coming from. I am on disability and due to the nature of my illness I could no longer work and had no other choice than to file for bk.

It is unfortuate that in this day and age that we to have resort to such a drastic thing but I agree with your post earlier about our govenrment, but I could go on and on about tha snd that's is totatlly off topic heret. I agree 100% with you and was mad as a hell after watching that clip  ...

Tell him to hang in there and someone will be around. Lots of members from Texas are on here and will be able to offer good advice.

He was a cook. He is wanting to move soon because he is looking into going to school in another state. He may have to wait until he is down there to look up some options. As it turns out, some things are up in the air right now since the post.
