summons recieved

We just received a summons in the mail today. My husband had to go to the ER. He has had asthma his whole life and was having trouble breathing. He told the Dr. what to do to make him better but of course was ignored. Needless to say after 3 separate visits in a 24 hour period he had to be admitted. Now we over close to 10000. We haven't paid anything on. For one I don't believe the bill would have been that high if they had done what they were suppose to do in the first place and second we dont have the money. My husband is an indpenedant contractor and we are a family of 5 soon to be 6 in may. IDk what do about this. We cant afford a lawyer to go to court and we cant afford to settle. We can at best pay $10 a month. Anyone have any advice?

the company you owe the money to doesn't care what your story is. They are looking for a default judgement. You need to visit an attorney with a free consultation....they will tell you how to deal with it.
