Here is the problem. In early December I received a summons to appear in court for a debt from a CA at the end of January. I sent the CA a debt validation letter and I haven't received a response. What can I do or say about this in court to protect myself from having a judgment against me?

They often do not respond to debt validation request, If I were you I would sent the request certified mail, return receipt requested, that way they will have to sign for it and if they still don't provide you validation you have the request to show the court. Also file a copy of the request for validation with the courthouse that the summons was issued then it will be on record. You just need to take a copy of the request that you send to them to the prothonotary, clerk of courts, they will file it in the case file.

I agree with what was posted above, just wanted to add that you need to show up. No show=default judgment, once they get it it's not easy to get it vacated.

I had a junk debt buyer get a default judgment against me from a car repo, the repo was way out of the SOL but I didn't show up to court. It's gone now but if I would have shown up it would have never been granted.
