Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
I don't think that a debt validation letter will help your court case. This is not the right way to answer summons. You should give a proper reply to the summons. Write a co-herent answer and dispute the complaints made in the summons. You should send your reply via certified mail.Make sure you inform that you'll appear in the court on the scheduled date. Otherwise, there is a great probability that you'll lose the case.

Actually, you both are correct...
OK, the first thing you need to do is put together an answer to the summons....if you like, I can help you with this. Once your answer is put together, you need to have two copies made of it--you keep the original. You file one copy with the court clerk's office. You file the other copy by certified mail to the attorney representing Midland. The attorney should be identified on the summons that you received.
The answer is very important because Midland is famous for trying to sue people without having one shred of proof about the debt. I am personally involved in a deal with them as we speak--they arent suing me, it is the other way around. But in any event, the goal is to force them to prove beyond doubt that the debt is legitimate, prove that they have the legal right to collect on it, and prove that the amount they claim you owe is legit as well.
If you like, I would be happy to look over the summons you received and help you put an answer together. you are welcome to scan it and send it to my email--that way we can go through it line by line. My email is the same as my screen name here, at yahoo.
