I recently pulled my credit report and found several medical claims from 2009 that have gone to collection agencies. I did not receive notice of these and was very surprised. Do I have any recourse with respect to debt verification. When does the 30 day notice to challenge the debt begin? If I can not get validation can I negotiate payment conditional on having the collection agecny withdraw the collection completely from mt credit report?

You can make a written request for a debt validation letter to all the CA???s reporting on your credit report via certified mail with a return receipt request. Wait for a reply from those CA???s. If they don???t reply, then send them a C&D letter. I think 30 day begins from the date of receiving the debt validation notice from those CA???s. If CA???s don???t reply, then you can send them a letter requesting to remove the collection listing from your credit report. You can also inform them if they don???t remove the listings from your credit report, you might sue them for violation of the FDCPA laws.
