old credit card debt

I owe almost $6000 on a credit card that has been charged off and sold to another collection agency.  I am going to try and get a settlement of $1500, do you think they would let me make $50 payments every month for a year until I get my next tax return?  If I do infact get this deal and pay it off would that help boost my credit rating and score?

By definition, a settlement is a lump sum paid at one time.  Making payments is not a settlement and no collection agency will set you up that way.
Paying on a collection account wont do anything to raise your score.
