I got call from a collection agency a few days back. But, I don't owe them money. They said that my debt is with them. Can I talk about the debt from whom I took it out or I have to deal with them who called.

At first, ask for debt validation from them who called. If your creditor has sold the debt to this collection agency, then you'll have to deal and negotiate with them. However, before doing so, make sure the debt hasn't crossed the Statute of Limitations period. If it has crossed, then they can;t sue you to recover the unpaid amount.

You can talk with them about the debt but it is better to communicate with them in writing. Here's the debt validation letter you can use:

Send the letter via certified mail and wait for a reply in the next 30 days. Do you know the name of the collection agency?
