This law firm sent me a letter in december, for a debt from a credit card through orchard bank (hsbc), i then sent them through regular mail a request for validation of the debt, and that was also in december and i still have not heard anything or recieved anything back. I want to know if i should be concerned? i called and left them a message stating that i sent a letter a few months ago and have not recieved anything and that once i do i will be happy to make payment arrangements because i do want to get this taken care of...but no one has called me back yet. i don't want to wake up with a summons from them one day for court, so what should i do? should i be worried? my balance they say that i owe is$664.09. i live in ohio and this company is in new york.

Hi Mandy,

File the dispute with any credit reporting agency that this debt is showing up on. That way the CRA will be involved and the creditor will have to respond to them. In the meantime, the CRA will make a note on your credit report that the debt is being disputed.

And don't send Validation letters regular mail - you have no proof that you sent it.
