Hello-

Forgive me in advance if I am cross posting or being redundant.

I am getting to the end of my dealings with the CA's, and I'm just wondering... can you get the original creditors to get the debt back from the credit agency and deal with them directly?

Thanks in advance!
Karen

Hello Karen, I welcome you to the site where we are all consumers dealing with some sort of debt. First, I should inform you that a collection company MUST be licensed in the state in which they are attempting to collect in. For example, if you live in Iowa, and the collection company is in Nebraska, they must be licensed to collect in Iowa, and if they are not, they are breaking the law, so feel free to always ask for their license number for your state. If they become elusive or angry, then you can assure that they do not possess the proper licensing, required by federal law. Now, that I got that out of the way, can you give me some specifics on what kind of debts you have?

I forgot to mention that it is possible to cut out the middleman, (collectors) I have done that before. It doesn't hurt to try. Just contact the original creditor and see if they are willing to work with you, and tell them that this is the only avenue that you wish to take to make good on the debt, and collections is not who you want to deal with. In other words, you are telling them that they either work with you, or they get nothing.

Actually, I've already paid off $4,000 with a few agencies and I have been lucky, they've been quite nice to me.

So I have a GEMB acct which is which is $309 with the original creditor but is now marked as a charge off, I don't see it yet, but I'm sure it will pop up.

I also have 2 collection agencies listed trying to collect for an old overdrawn BofA account. Originally 404, but the agencies are trying to collect $460.

There are a few more, (totaling about 2,000) which I am going to contact the original vendors on. Can't hurt to try I suppose.

I'm just done playing and want them all paid off so I can start to rebuild.

Penncro and ER Solutions are listed as collecting for BofA. I have already drafted validation letters to both and will send today.

allied interstate is on here, one just listed as "Collection" and OSI Collections.

Wow... now that I look, it's really on 1300... that's awesome!
