Got a call from them about an old credit card bill of my husbands. He is now totally disabled and unable to handle any of his stuff. He cannot leave the house by himself or talk on the phone. How do I handle this? He only gets SS disability. I am not responsible for the bill. Can they collect from us? Do they sue people in court?

how old is the debt? What state do you live in? Is it even in SOL?
Can they sue? Sure they can. Will they be able to collect on it? Probably not.
You should make a written request for a debt validation letter t
You should make a written request for a debt validation letter to the CA. If they don???t reply, then forward them a C&D letter. If they send you a proper debt validation letter, then you will be responsible to repay the debt. You may negotiate with the CA and work out a better repayment plan. You should check whether or not the SOL period in your state has expired. If it has expired, then the CA may not get any right to take any legal action against you.
