I have been eceiving calls from a debt collection company. I called the number and was told I had a 600.00 overdue bill with Verizon wireless. I was shocked because my bills with verizon were always paid. The guy told me the number and I told him that was not my number but he said it had my ss number and that was true because it was a number that belonged to my son-in-law when he needed a phone for business. Obviously ,I approached my daughter and she told me they had taken the number out of my ss number and name. When contacting Verizon I was told there are no numbers associated with ss number except the ones I currently have which are in good standing. But she did give us the number of the debt collection company and the same guy who asking if I was going to pay. I told him that this was not my debt and I needed verification of the bills to see what was the problem.
This was not happening. Just pay he said.
My question is I have never received a past billing for this nor has my daughter.
Do I haveany recourse to get this off my credit history because it has affected it?

The fact that Verison doesn't have a record of it is interesting and may be why they refuse to validate. You may have to fight them aggressively and force them to either validate the account or remove it from your credit report.

You may have to sue them to see any change though, just so you know.
