Midland Credit Debt Settlement
Date: Tue, 08/07/2007 - 20:23
Last year I paid a settlement amount to Midland Credit Mangement for an Associates credit card. The amount is still showing on my credit report. The original associates account was opened in March of 2001.
Is it better to dispute the negative listing on my credit report? Or to wait until March of 2008 and dispute it because of how long it has been on my report? Can I do both
I opened the account in New York and currently reside in Arizona.

When you paid the settlement amount, did you receive/send a settlement letter?? If you did, send a copy of the letter to the credit bureau's and demand that it be removed. If the debt was a "charge-off" it can remain on your report a full 7 years and would be noted as "charge-off PAID", unless you stated you wanted it totally removed in a settlement letter as a stipulation of the settlement. Same with a judgment. It would say "judgment-PAID" until the judgment period expires.
