I'm currently in a DMP with CCCS since May 2009. My sears account has now sent my account to collections. This is after making the agreed payment every month on time for a year through the DMP. Sears accepted my DMP proposal a year ago and even sent this acceptance to me in writing. I just don't understand. I'm waiting to hear back from my counselor at CCCS. This makes be very nervous. I know that creditors are not obligated to honor a DMP, it just seems to me creditors would rather continue receiving a payment each month. Any ideas how this could play out?

Keep a hold of that acceptance letter! It may give you some leverage! If they have agreed in writing to your plan and you have honored said plan, then they need to honor their end as well.

If the debt is just in collections but still owed by sears then when you get a collection call or letter you send the collector a cease & desist, explaining that you are dealing with sears under a written agreement.
