(817) 302-0293 - Does anyone know about DSS Research?
Date: Thu, 09/28/2006 - 14:14
Thanks!
817-302-0293
I also had 817-302-0293 in my caller Id, never leaves a message. Probably, it's a telemarketing call.
817-302-0293
Well, got another phone call from 817-302-0293
m again tonight, fully expecting it to be a creditor, and was fully prepared to demand no more phone calls, send me everything in writing, etc.
It was a medical insurance survey, asked me my age group and ethnicity. Period. Two questions, thank you very much!
Now, why the heck did they need to call me 4 times per day until I answered the phone? Sheesh!
817-302-0293
I hope you lied. You never know what other info they have on you and are combining with this info for nefarious purposes. After all, just because they claim to be a "survey" doesn't mean they really are.
For example, maybe they have your name, and ss# and are selling fake-ids - having age and ethnicity match up could go a long ways to making their fake-ids more valuable than just a random assignment.
817-302-0293 info
Only thing can tell you about 817-302-0293
is it comes from the Fort Worth, Texas area.
Call from 817-302-0293 on my cell
Hmmmm I just got a call on my cell today from 817-302-0293
....I googled it and found this site.
Anyone know who it is yet?
Got hit by 817-302-0293
Not that it adds any insight.....at all....but I just got hit with that number 817-302-0293 too.
817-302-0293
I never do surveys over the phone when I get calls like that. I just tell them no thank you and hang up. We even do that at work too. You never really know who is on the other end of the phone on something like that. Best not to give any information what so ever. Better safe than sorry.
The calls continue from 817-302-0293
No msgs left.....just calling a few times a day, evey day, for almost a week now......and yes, this phone number 817-302-0293 is from Fort Worth, TX.
Do Not Call List - 817-302-0293
The company is DSS Research. They do surveys for insurance companies. E-mail them at info(at)dssresearch.com and ask to be removed from their call list.

It's a market research firm in TX, DSS Research. Call the number back and you'll get a message IDing them as that, along w/ alleged instructions on how to opt out of their annoying calls. According to their website, they are related to health care marketing. A telemarketer by any other name.
Sign up for the National Do Not Call registry
If you are registered with the National Do Not Call Registry, then fight fire with fire and report them. The more who do, the merrier the outcome will be for us underdogs.
My complaint will be filed TONIGHT. So as many of you that can file with me, should do so without further ado! Collectively, we'll be able to position ourselves to get them into some seriously hot water if they choose to persist with annoying us. That same persistence will also pave the way for us to sue them in the future.
To sue, you have to be on the list, at which pointyou can inform them of your list presence, which fires an official warning shot over their bow (you are legally informing and warning them at this point - a.k.a. exhausting your remedies, in order.), and if they persist afterwards, you can file and eventually collect as much as $2500 per infraction from a Civil Court. AT&T has been through this a few times already, and they paid dearly just for some telemarketing calls......like $30,000 kind of dearly - and all to just one lady! Guess what? After the lawsuit was over and she was awarded the damages - THEY CALLED HER AGAIN!!!!
The stupidity of these telemarketers' actions, lack of care to your personal space and time, and outright tenaciousness of them is downright mind-boggling sometimes! I don't know about any of you - BUT IT MAKES ME MORE EXPLOSIVELY MAD THAN A LIT FIRECRACKER ON A BLACK POWDER KEG! Sometimes I want to just go verbally postal on those monkeys and fill their heads with every colorful and insultuous metaphor that comes to mind - and most of the time - I do just that! You should try it sometime. Feels really good to vent like that, and the next day, my brain tends to be flooded with endorphins.... LOL.
Another one of my favorites is to ask for their supervisor. Then when they get on, back them into a corner, and then ask for their supervior. Rinse, and repeat until you have either bored from the exercise, or they just hang up on your forever, or you cannot climb the ladder any higher! IT DOES WORK IF YOU DO IT CORRECTLY. You just have to outpace them, and be more tenacious and NEVER allow them to take control of the conversation. You must control it.......from start to finish.
Click here (https://donotcall.gov/default.aspx) to sign up to the Do Not Call Registry, and here (https://donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx) to file a complaint against them if you are already signed up. For those of you not yet signed up, just be sure to file a complaint too if they call you AFTER you get on the NDNC list.
Enjoy.

Do Not Call List - misinformation
Fight Fire With Fire -- you're somewhat misinformed. Read the policy for the do not call list. Survey companies are exempt from these rules. Pollsters are exempt. If they are not selling or soliciting, then they can still legally call you, even if you are on the do not call list. I know this for a fact as I am the owner of a marketing firm.
If lawmakers were to make it illegal for pollsters and survey companies (such as DSS Research) to call people at home, those same lawmakers would be shooting themselves in the foot come election time and issue time.
They are not going to shut down the ability to be able to reach people via telephone. And whether it is political or non-political, this company has the right to call you regardless of your status on the do not call list.
All you can do is ask them to remove your number from their database and hope they comply. If you call the number back, at 817-302-0293 you will get the option to leave your number on their voicemail to be removed from any future calls.
But please don't misinform people that they can go after anyone who calls them because it is not true or accurate info.
Everyone needs to read up on the policy of the do not call agency and fully understand who can and who can not call you if you are on the list.
And I too get annoyed with these phone calls, I get them all the time, but I don't try and sue every one of them or report every one of them because I know they are not all subject to the policy structure.

I got a few calls from them this morning and told them to never call me again and to take my # off their call list. Then I reported them to the NDNC website . . .I hope they take care of this nonsense!! I definitely do NOT need to be screening my calls to avoid these a**holes. File a complaint if they are harassing you!!
I left a voice message with decision support systems to remove m
I left a voice message with decision support systems to remove my number from the database. Time will tell.... :?

I am suspecting that when i signed up for texting alerts from a couple of websites that they sold my information???
Fight Fire With Fire
I'm glad js pointed out that the national do not call registry doesn't apply to market research calls, it's a pretty common misunderstanding people who don't bother to read have. I'd like to go a little further and plead with everyone here to not take the advice of Fight Fire with Fire's advice and go ballistic on the people who are calling you. A few years back I had the unfortunate job of being one of those people who call to give surveys to help pay for school. Believe me, none of the people there were calling anybody for the fun of it. It was mainly a collection of students like myself and people who for whatever reason needed to take on a second job so they could get by. We all got to sit and stare at a computer screen for hours at a time while we waited for someone to pickup the phone and more than likely hang up on us, all the while being pressured by our supervisors to meet quota. I don't know for sure that the people at this place are in the same boat but I suspect that they are. Please don't make their lives any more difficult by going off on them, they are just doing a crappy job so that they can get by in the world. If you don't want to take their survey then don't answer their call or call the number back and follow prompts to get your number taken off their list or just answer and tell them that you're not interested and please remove their number. Yelling at them really doesn't accomplish anything aside from making someone who is already having a lousy time feel a little worse. Show some decency people.
I have been getting calls from that number everyday for the last
I have been getting calls from that number everyday for the last week or so, sometimes a couple times a day. I just reported them at the Do Not Call registry. It says you have to be signed up for over 31 days to report for the people who just added their phone number to the list. Hang in there!
Got my second call...
and this is after I already answered an earlier call and told them I was not interested.
survey takers not subject to Do Not Call Registry
From the Donotcall.gov website:
The National Do Not Call Registry does not limit calls by political organizations, charities, or telephone surveyors.
So if they are just survey-takers, nobody will be getting rich from complaining about them.

They are not telemarketers and they are not selling anything so doing the above will have no effect. ANSWER THE PHONE AND TELL THEM TO REMOVE YOU FROM THERE ENTIRE LIST THEY HAVE TO COMPLY AND THAT WILL HURT THEM. THEY NEED TO MAKE A QUOTA ON THESE CALLS SO IF EVERYONE DID THIS THEY WOULDNT BE ABLE TO WORK..

You guys are idiots.
DSS Research is an independant market research firm.
Not a sales call.
How ignorant could you guys be?
I used to work for them. They don't ask for you social security number.
They are interested in what you have to say about your health care via Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid.
YOUR STUPID HEALTH PLANS ASKED DSS TO DO THE SURVEYS SO THEY COULD SEE WHAT THEY SHOULD IMPROVE ON.
stupid morons. Paranoid dumbasses.
well i always tell you people to piss off everytime. does that work for you scrub?....paulmergel.

I was hired to work there. I went to the first two days of training. I'm not going to defend them, but, they're not selling anything. Insurance companies contract them to do their research. If you've used whichever insurance company is doing the research, you'll be contacted. Your number might be a number that a previous person had. That's why they're calling. Also, the Do Not Call registry does not apply to them.
If they call, you HAVE to use the word "list" if you don't want to be called again. For example, simply saying "Don't call me again" doesn't work. You have to say something like "Take me off of your list." Make sure you use the word "list" in any attempt to be removed from the list.
Why did I quit after two days? We had a trainer but another trainer sat in class (her name is Krystal Franklin) and kept throwing out these hypotheticals on certain types of calls. We hadn't even been introduced to the phones yet! How the hell were we supposed to know this crap?!? People wouldn't know the answers and just say something, then other would openly laugh at their answers. The trainers didn't do anything about it. That's disrespectful and that's something I'm not going to be apart of. Screw that Krystal Franklin bitch.
Also, and this is the kicker, we were required to buy our own headset from DSS Research. After we quit, we were required to return the headset. If it was good shape, DSS Research would buy it back for much less than you paid for it. That's unethical, borderline illegal and 100% bullshit.
I wasn't going to be apart of that, so I no called/no showed the day before we were supposed to buy the headset. At least I'll have two days of training pay. But, I'm sure they'll find some way to not pay me.
Time to lawyer up!

The Federal Trade Commission has a Do Not Call Registry. My phone number is listed in the Registry, but I get the calls anyway.
Love it!
Thanks so much for publishing his phone number. :grin Genuis! Hopefully he gets a lot of calls. Even if this is from my insurance company I did not authorize them to call me for market research so this should be illegal. Doubt it is but it's just annoying. :roll
They are persistent. DSS Research was hired by Kaiser to survey
They are persistent. DSS Research was hired by Kaiser to survey members (patients). I did NOT complete a paper survey and Kaiser Hospital has apparently given them my home number to further annoy me. I left the 'do not call' voice message, and will follow up with my Kaiser member services to complain about loss of privacy.
Research
I think that DSS Research is doing a legal and good job. They try to get information to analyze for improvement of client services. Other issue what is concerned here is compensation for time and share of thruth information, and DSS Research have to find a way to compansate list members, because thay get paid as well. I hope we can agree, that most people will answer tje phone with smile for 10 bucks?
