I entered a debt consolidation program and one of my creditors refused the terms. They sent the debt to collections (Encore). The debt consolidation company was paying a minimum amount to the creditor while I made a deal to pay off the debt with Encore. I ended up overpaying the debt and now Encore will not return the money.

Here is the information so far:
On 11-20-2008 I called Encore at 8:50am and spoke with Phylis and she couldn't help me so she transfered me to Gary who said they received the overpayment but he couldn't do anything on the account until the pay off had been posted for 30 days. He said he would start the return process on Mon 11-26-2008.
I called back to follow up on 12-12-2008 and spoke with Crystal because Gary was out of the office. She said that the overpayment was paid to Citibank and they would have to return the payment. I called Citibank and they would not help me because the account belongs to Encore. I then called back on 12-15-2008 to speak with Gary who was unable to answer the phone so I spoke with a supervisor named Mrs. Obermann who said that she saw where the payment was made and that she needed a copy of both sides of the check that made the payment and then they would send the payment back to the debt consolidation company.

I think I should turn them over to a collection agency... What do you think? :-)
