Has anyone heard of them? I just got a letter today from them stating they have taken over my Debt from Chase in the amount of $10001 and I can make payments to them or go to their website and set up a payment plan. The letter came 3rd class mail which I found weird ( I actually work for the Post Office). Most important mail comes in 1st class. Anyway, what's my next step? Send out a debt validation letter? I'd like to make them a settlement offer, should I send them a letter offering what I can pay ( .40 cents on dollar in 4 payments)? Thanks

The address of Equable ascent financial is 1120 W. Lake Cook Rd., Suite B, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089, Tel. 847.504.3261, Fax 847.509.7810 .

Regarding your 1st question, I think you should send the debt validation letter immediately through a certified mail return receipt. Let them validate the debt. If they don't contact you within 30 days after receiving your letter, dispute the debt.

But, if they can validate the debt, then you can go forward and settle the debt. Ask them to give the settlement agreement in writing. And also ask them to report the account as 'Paid in Full' rather than 'Settled'.

Ok, thank you. I did send the DV letter certified return receipt. I also sent them a letter outling my situation and telling them I would be willing to 4 lump sums (Due to a settlement at work I am getting over the next 4 months), and I'm still waiting to hear back from them. Basically I offered about .27 cents on the dollar to pay back this debt. I wonder if they'll take it..??

I also told them if they didn't take my offer I would be forced to use this money to offer the same deal to Capital One, who I'm also behind 60 days on...

I've heard Cap One is one of the more difficult CC's to deal with, does anyone have a good experience with them? If so, What were some of the things you said to them in order to get them to deal with you and take your offer?

I think they're trying to validate your debt first. Let them do that first. If they do validate your debt, I think you will be able to settle your debt as well. The offer you've made is a good one, so just wait for their response.

Capital One sucks, my fiancee's ex wrote herself an access check for $7k (forged signature). They gave us a copy fo the check and we filed two police reports and reprted it to capital one's fraud group and they still won't help us. Also my fiancee is handicapped and was bed ridden at the time she did this (3 days before final divorce decree). Good luck

I have tried calling their 1-800 # for several days....any option you chose, whether it be their address and fax # or billing, etc tells you "I'm sorry, you have chosen an invalid option" it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anything but in a maze with their phone line. Absolutely impossible to get anything resolved...I'm at a loss how to resolve my collection with them.

If this has not been resolved, I am also trying to deal with Equable Ascent. Good luck trying to mail them anything. I mailed a certified letter to them and it was signed for by their neighbor Apex Financial. I have called Apex's number to see if they are authorized to sign for EAF's certified mail since they are a subsidiary of EAF. Neither company will answer the phone and will not answer the 4 or 5 voice mails I have left. Again, good luck.

I keep getting letters for a person whom I've never heard of. How do I get this company to take my address off of this person's account, several letters have been marked person unknown at my address, but they continue to send them anyway
