Please, How do i find out if Asset Acceptance or Equinox are license to collect in Massachusetts?

Here's the link to the MA Dept of Consumer Affairs

I found Equinox on the spreadsheet but not AssHat but they are probably using Equinox to collect for them. Does AssHat own the debt? Are they reporting on your CR's?

Yes Ass Acc own the debt. This whole issue goes way back when i was living in Ohio. The original creditor was a company named (SBC). Couple years ago SBC was purchased by AT&T. But Ass Acc reported me to the credit bureaus twice , both times with different balance and the Original creditor they used is AT&T. I called AT&T they have no record of me owing the money, so i called Ass Acc they told me to call Equinox, and i did, i settled for $128, and the debt was $223. Now couple of months ago i got a letter from Equinox asking for more money on the same collection account. I sent a letter asking for validation, but within five days i received a letter back from Equinox showing one page of a bill from 2004 of $186. Ass Acc told me that SBC had split the bill. I have no way of contacting SBC, AT&T have no record of me owing a telephone bill. What should i do ? That's so unfair. Don't have money to waste . How can this company keep doing this to me?
